888 Holdings has welcomed Ian Gallagher, the former product director at Flutter Entertainment, as their new Chief Product Officer (CPO).
Gallagher assumed his role last month and is now tasked with overseeing the product vision, strategy, and development for 888's global brands and business units.
Having served as product director at Flutter from January 2021 to February 2023, Gallagher brings valuable experience to his new position. His career includes a five-year tenure within Flutter’s Paddy Power Betfair business, where he held various product leadership roles, including product director for gaming.
This marks Gallagher's second stint at Paddy Power Betfair, with an 11-month spell as the casino senior manager at Rational Group in between. Earlier in his career, he held marketing roles with Creative Labs and Mitsubishi Electric.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Gallagher stated in a LinkedIn post, "I am excited to work with (888 CEO) Per Widerström and his team to help shape and grow the iconic brands that we have."
Per Widerström, who assumed the role of CEO at 888 in October 2023, has been instrumental in shaping the company's leadership team. The Q3 performance of 888 showed a 10% year-on-year increase in revenue, reaching £405.0 million. Notably, the retail segment experienced growth, with a 1% increase in revenue attributed to improved product offerings.
In the online sector, the UK and Ireland online business reported a 10% drop in revenue, primarily influenced by safer gambling changes, refined marketing approaches, and a lower-than-expected betting net win margin from sports results in September. International operations faced a 19% decline in revenue, coupled with a 2% decrease in average monthly actives.
Ian Gallagher's appointment comes as part of 888's strategy to strengthen its leadership team and capitalize on market opportunities. As the new Chief Product Officer, Gallagher is expected to play a key role in driving product innovation and enhancing the global brands under the 888 umbrella.
