What were the key milestones and successes for your company in 2024?
We welcomed Interblock as a customer. We are thrilled to be part of Interblock's plans to bring their classy content to the online space and we have made a lot of progress together already. There will be some really cool and unique content out there when it goes live.
Our jackpot platform went live in New Jersey and Michigan through Light and Wonder, with HITSqwad and Pixiu Gaming content. We are very proud of this because it shows our product strategy is working - flexible tools which make it easy to build content whilst satisfying the most stringent jurisdictional requirements out there.
We increased our development team headcount as we scale both our single-player and multiplayer teams.
We delivered many game engines on our platform for our partners which have been deployed in multiple jurisdictions.
We began developing more Multiplayer titles. We are now working on several multiplayer table games and three multiplayer slots with our partners. More multiplayer slots are lining up.
One thing we are particularly proud of at Black Cow is our approach to continual improvement of all areas. We run as an open society where criticism is encouraged - criticism of the organisation, process, management and of our work.
As with any open society, this not only builds trust and goodwill internally but more importantly provides continual improvement and the ability to try new approaches without fear of failure or ridicule.
During 2024 we improved our metric gathering and our processes so that we make better quality deliveries with good data to use in order to understand every aspect of our delivery. This will allow us to make further improvements continually.
What were the biggest challenges your company faced this year, and how did you successfully navigate them?
Finding good software developers is always a challenge: it is time consuming and has inherent risk. We use a tried-and-tested recruitment process (much of which I originally encountered when I was interviewed for Orbis/OpenBet 25 years ago!).
We have tweaked the process over the years and it works well, but we do have the occasional wrong hire which costs money and time. We reject a huge number of candidates because we need team-members to be very strong technically, but just as importantly they need to be a good fit culturally in our small and fast-growing company.
Multiplayer gaming is a huge technical challenge which gives our chief engineers continual juicy problems to solve. Fortunately this is what we live for. Every challenge which comes our way strengthens our platform and strengthens us!
