British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has teamed up with UK-based gambling data science company Future Anthem to establish a groundbreaking Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Innovation Hub in Vancouver.
This initiative aims to enhance player experiences across BCLC's lottery, gaming, and sports betting platforms by leveraging cutting-edge AI technology and data-driven solutions.
The newly-formed hub will be dedicated to developing AI and data programs that improve player engagement, ensure safer gaming, and enhance product design.
A team of data and product specialists will work at the hub, with direct access to Future Anthem's advanced data science platform to create innovative solutions tailored to BCLC's gaming products.
Mark Goldberg, Chief Information Officer at BCLC, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration: "BCLC is excited to be partnering with Future Anthem to create the first AI innovation hub in B.C. focused on the gambling industry.

The hub will operate under the guidance of a joint Steering Committee, featuring senior leadership from both BCLC and Future Anthem. Together, they aim to foster a highly specialized AI workforce in Vancouver.
Future Anthem brings significant expertise in AI research and development, while a small team of BCLC employees will contribute their local knowledge and experience to the project.

In addition to staffing the new Vancouver-based team, Future Anthem will deploy its real-time AI platform at the hub. This platform will establish best practices for AI product development, including transparent AI governance, data security protocols, and responsible management of AI models. Importantly, all models will utilize anonymized data, which will be securely stored in Canada to protect player privacy.
This partnership is set to place BCLC at the forefront of AI-driven innovation in the gaming industry, further enhancing its capabilities while ensuring responsible gaming practices are upheld.
