Gaming Corps is celebrating a major milestone as it marks the one-year anniversary of its groundbreaking game mechanic, Smash4Cash™. To reflect on the journey and explore what the future holds, we sat down with Connor Blinman, Head of Games, the developer who is the driving force behind this innovative feature
Can you tell us some of the highlights of Smash4Cash™’s first 12 months on the market?
Those first 12 months saw us launch five new Smash4Cash™ products, ranging from a simplistic crypto-inspired version to a fully-fledged Christmas product.
The biggest highlight has absolutely been the launch of the original Piggy Smash game that inspired another four games in the series.
Another highlight has been how much our clients and players have taken to such a new and original concept. They have enjoyed it so much that we’ve broken several of our internal performance records.
What were the initial expectations for Smash4Cash™, and how has its performance
compared?
Right from the start, when we first began conceiving the Smash4Cash™ mechanic and then
developing it, we felt we were creating something very special.
You know it is a special product when we feel ourselves that there are numerous directions you can take the games that use it. When we began testing the mechanic within our games, we found it was immediately entertaining and we always wanted to come back for more.
The expectation around Smash4Cash™ was strong but we still did not expect the
overwhelmingly positive reaction from the players. It is fair to say the performance has
exceeded our expectations.
Which part of the Smash4Cash™ feature received the most positive feedback from customers, and how did this influence subsequent games?
That has to be the Rampage feature, which is essentially like a “Free Spins” with guaranteed
wins/hits.
It was so strong that we even named the second game after it and stuck an exclamation point at the end to really emphasise the excitement that comes from the Rampage(!) feature.
We later introduced the Buy Feature mechanic in the Buffalo Bash game, where players can
purchase the Rampage and Multiplier Rampage features.
This was an outstanding success, and that mechanic went on to play a part in our Xmas
Unwrapped game. This feature will also be implemented into all future Smash4Cash games.
What are the biggest challenges Smash4Cash™ has faced in its first year on the market?
The biggest challenge has been to stay in front of everyone else’s products. The market in general will notice successful products and will try its hand at recreating something similar, so we had to be prepared for that.
That’s why we worked hard to launch five games within the first year of Smash4Cash™ - with many more planned - to make sure we cemented ourselves as the leader of a new genre of instant win products.
With the iGaming industry moving rapidly, how has the competitive landscape changed over the past 12 months, and how do features like Smash4Cash™ help Gaming Corps stay ahead?
At Gaming Corps we see ourselves as a frontrunner in the market when it comes to innovation and dedicate a portion of our roadmap specifically to creating new ideas.
Smash4Cash™ did exactly that last year, and its success shows we’re on the right track for staying ahead of the competition.
What are some of the key lessons you have learned from Smash4Cash™’s first 12 months on the market?
Our key lessons are broad, with the main one being that we have learned there is a very big place in the market for strong innovation within the instant win and arcade categories.
There are lots of customers and players looking for new products in this space, with very little competition - unlike Slots, for example.
Can you give us a preview of any new mechanics that Gaming Corps plans to launch in the next 12 months?
We are aiming to launch our follow-up to the original Piggy Smash, simply called Piggy Smash 2, in Q2. This game will generate the feeling of progression, this time towards the large Jackpot features.
We also intend to develop the series further, blending the game mechanics with different interesting themes while trying to innovate the overall game flow and mechanics.
We have hired a team specifically to specialise in these types of products, and they will continue to innovate in this space.
The plan is to launch several more Smash4Cash™ titles in 2025, so it should be a smashing
year ahead for Gaming Corps!
