GiG, the award-winning platform provider, has received a gambling software provider license from the Swedish Gaming Authority, Spelinspektionen, for the Swedish market.
The full license comes after the introduction of new regulations that require all B2B software providers operating in the Swedish market to license their technology in accordance with the updated legislation.
The license reaffirms GiG's commitment to expanding in regulated markets worldwide. The company has licenses in more than 29 complex regulated markets globally and eight more on the way.
Sweden is considered one of the most profitable online gambling markets in Europe, with an estimated revenue of approximately €1.5 billion in 2022. The market is growing by 6% annually, driven by expansion in the online casino and sports betting verticals.
GiG has been present in the Swedish regulated market since it launched, serving as a leading platform provider powering Suprnation, Lucky Days, and Betsson's Zecure brands, among its partners in the country.
Claudio Caruana, General Counsel for GiG, emphasized the company's dedication to compliance in light of evolving regulatory requirements. "As regulators continue to build more robust requirements on industry suppliers and operators, we will continue to dedicate our resources to ensuring that the development of our technology and procedures places us at the forefront on matters of compliance," Caruana said.
GiG's Chief Commercial Officer, Marcel Elfersy, noted the company's deep understanding of the local market and the needs of operators in Sweden. "Our platform and sportsbook are well suited to the increasingly complex regulatory environments there, and we look forward to continuing to help power sustainable growth in Sweden with our depth of experience, leading software, and dedicated, localized service," Elfersy said.
