International Game Technology PLC (IGT), a global leader in gaming and lottery solutions, has reaffirmed its partnership with the California Lottery, the second-largest lottery in the U.S., through a significant seven-year contract extension.
This agreement, set to extend until October 2033 with potential further extensions, solidifies IGT's role as the primary lottery technology provider for California.
Under the terms of this extension, IGT will revolutionize the California Lottery's existing second-chance platform. The current system will be upgraded to IGT's latest cloud-based technology, seamlessly integrated into IGT's OMNIA™ lottery solution. This innovative move to the cloud will not only enhance flexibility and reliability but also foster accelerated innovation within the lottery's operations.
Jay Gendron, IGT's Chief Operating Officer, Global Lottery, expressed the company's commitment: "The California Lottery has trusted IGT to provide best-in-class, modern lottery solutions for more than three decades, driving continued increased sales for the Lottery and more than $41 billion to support California's public schools.
IGT's enhanced second-chance promotions platform will provide maximum flexibility for the California Lottery to create a variety of exciting promotional drawings and bonus capabilities for its players."
In addition to upgrading the second-chance promotions platform, IGT will continue delivering comprehensive services to the California Lottery. This includes managing the central system, maintaining the communications network, and overseeing more than 140,000 point-of-sale hardware units across 23,000 retailer locations.
Furthermore, IGT will provide ongoing support in areas such as instant ticket games, field services, marketing, research, and call center assistance.
